How do I activate Linux/unix services on my cloud storage Ex4 device
My hikvision camera software IVMS-4200 is unable to connect to my storage device shared folder because of the above issue. Help urgently needed

What services are you trying to activate? I believed it is not allow. WD WebUI does support some of the camera out there on the market. Is your camera trying to access the share folder to store the video/pictures? It should be able to as long as you setup it to connect through SMB/AFP/NFS shares. I hope that help.

Thank you for your response the camera software I am using is hikvision iVMS-4200, I wrote hikvision and they sent me a document which states that I need to enable Linux on the WD storage. Hence I am asking if there is a way to enable it on the storage.

Linux is operating system like Windows OS or Mac OSX on the Mac. How I don’t what they mean by enable Linux on the WD storage. If they are saying enable the storage share. Then you can go to the link on how to create a share.

Before to begin setting up the camera, DVR or NVR you will need to configure the NAS correctly. As our products are
Linux based system it is very important that you enabled UNIX/Linux services in your NAS system (Fig. 2). If that service
is not enabled your device will not be able to discover the NAS system in the network.
