Help to identify WD Elements 14TB PCB component

Hi gurus,

i am requesting help to identify if the burnt component is a TVS Diode as i accidentally over-voltage the external drive using a plug meant for laptop.

attached is the whole of PCB and close up part on the suspected burnt component visually read as “6BE XXX”

request help to identify as currently the drive stopped spinning with the USB bridge card displaying rapid white light.

USB bridge is working fine as i had successfully connected a SSD and can be read by a laptop.

thank you

This is a similar PCB:

You need to remove the shorted 12V TVS diode and then replace the fuse or bridge it with a blob of solder. Note that you will no longer have any protection on the 12V input. However, the drive will still work.

If you have a multimeter, we can do more checks to make certain there is no additional damage (unlikely).

Hi there, thanks so much so the reply. i will try it out and update.
