Has WD given me a refurbished drive

I purchased 2 WD Essentials 12TB drives the first drive I unboxed hooked up the power and USB then to start the drive I had to press the little power button on the back. With the second drive when I hooked up power and USB the drive started up straight away without needing to press the power button. I have checked crystaldiskinfo and it states the power on count is 6 while the power on hours is 0. How does a supposedly brand new drive have a power on count of 6? and why was the power on button on the drive already on?

Probably. After all, WD sell HDD drives that they swear are SSD.
