Hard disk head replacement

I have a wd easystore 2 tb.it fall down.now it dosent work.
How can i buy a hard disk head for replacement.
Thanks

Hi @Luso,

Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

I wouldn’t bother with WD’s tech support. They will undoubtedly refer you to their data recovery “partners”, who will charge you 3 times as much as other competent DR shops. Typical costs in your case would be $1K, although the cost may be much higher if the heads have scratched the platters.

The chances of a first-time DIY-er pulling off a head swap would be very small. For a start, there are important donor matching criteria, and the operation must be performed inside a filtered “clean cabinet”. Preferably you would use proper head swap tools.

An added complication is SMR. If your drive is one of these, special care must be exercised to prevent data loss, even if your head swap succeeds.

Thank you for your input.
What I have in the drive is not important to justify paying 1.000
It has just movies.the thing is we leave in a boat in the islands in Panama just wilderness.to movies was a nice thing for entertainment.we loved to relax and watch.
I’m sure i could fixed.but i can not find where to buy the heads…
Does any one could tell me where can i buy.i would really appreciate.
Thanks
Have a beautiful day

Nobody sells heads. You need to buy a matched donor drive.

They may make you rethink your attempt.

Thank you for the info.I’m going to look at.
Appreciate your help.
Very kind

I can find the one i have in your list.

There are several characters in the DCM that you should try to match. You should also match the full model number, plus you should match the head map.

Just be warned that you have a very low chance of success. If you want your data, you should really consider professional services. If you try and fail, the costs will double or triple.

Your model belongs to the Pebbleb family.

I’m not sure, but I believe this should be the appropriate tool:

There are much cheaper versions of this tool from other manufacturers.

If you have a 3D printer, you can make your own:
