Getting prompted for a username / password on a public share

Hello,

I am new to using this unit, and am having a problem with it this morning.

I have a share on the EXT2 that is set to public with full access, but when a computer on the same LAN is trying to access the share they are getting prompted for username/password.

This is just happening on 1 machine.

Any ideas?

Check the Windows Credential manager on the affected machine. Windows does not like “multiple users” for the same network device. Delete both the device name and the ip address if they are listed separately in the credential manager.

I did check the credential manager on the affected PC, and it has the correct credentials entered…Person is using now, so perhaps I’ll try your suggestion when they take a break.

Yes, Windows does not like multiple account for the same network device. If you original connect a share to that device with a user account and password and then try to connect to the same device with public share, it would deny access. You can try to connect to that public share by entering the username and password that you use before. Or follow NAS_user advice.
