…then the smell of electricity burning filled the air.

I would like to replace the enclosure with another from EBAY and see if I can recover data.

Questions:

How do I ensure that I am buying the same enclosure on Ebay?

I am assuming the Ebay unit needs the exact size drives. In my case, 4 x 2tb.

I would then need to format the eBay unit for Raid 5, PC - to match my configuration?

Then pull out the drives and replace with mine and see what happens?

You can try matching the exact part # of yours which would be 0G0XXXX Have the seller confirm theirs if you’d like. Otherwise just make sure the enclosure you swap it with has the same USB type as yours.

If you have an older version with USB 2.0 you need to make sure the one you get also has 2.0, if yours has 3.0 then also get 3.0 otherwise the chips will be different.

Thanks, Rydia. How do I verify the USB in both devices?

USB 2.0 will say 2.0 on it, its a white plug and very similar to a square shape. 3.0 will be blue inside, and be a taller looking plug on the rear, also will have 3.0 or SS logo above the port.

also if you are just trying to match the 0G# then it will of course match yours.
