G-RAID Case Failure

Hey there.

I have an old G-RAID 2 who just stopped working.
I’ve opened the case and removed both hard drives to test them and they are just fine, but i cannot get them to mount since they were in Raid 0 mode. My case just died so i cannot get it to even turn on.

Is there a way to get the data from those hard drives via software? I mean, maybe place them on an external dock or even put them inside my 2012 mac pro and get them to mount the volume so i can copy their content?

Im running 10.10.5 Yosemite on a Mac Pro.

thanks

Hello,

With the G-RAID products they all used specific hardware RAID controllers, if you remove them from the enclosure they will not work. You would not be able to restore them with software. Your only chance at being able to see the data on those drives is to locate another G-RAID2 enclosure (It has to be a G-RAID2, any other generation will not work)

Also there is a chance that checking the drive individually outside of the enclosure could have caused the RAID to fail.

after the faillure of hard drive from 2TO Graid gen 4 firewire 800
can i replace those hard drive by another one over 2TO or it needs to be 2TO?

With an older enclosure like that we never tested drives over 4TB so it would be at your own discretion to try.
