Can I connect the G Drive w/ TB3 to the computer via USB3 and then connect an older TB2 drive to the G Drive using a TB2-to-TB3 adaptor to daisychain the two drives?

Ex: Computer G Drive w/ TB3 <TB2 w/ adaptor> older G Drive (TB2 only).

No you cannot.

TB3 and USB 3.1 are not the same interface. They share a port (Type-C) but cannot be chained across.

TB only chains with other TB.
