Frequent sound when idling

I recently bought a MBL and it works flawlessly, except for a little (I hope) problem.

Since yesterday, every ~30 seconds I hear a short spinning sound from the HD, like when the device comes out of standby, but the green light does not blink and, obviously, I’m not transferring any file to it. Indeed, I can hear this noise even when all PCs in the network are shut down.

The MBL can go to standby. I tried to restart it, but nothing changed.

Can someone please explain me if there’s a way to solve this?

Maybe I found the cause thanks to the SMART log. The Load Cycle Count is very high and keeps incrementing at a very fast pace. But is it supposed to be so noisy?
