"Free space" LED indicators turn off after Smartware uninstall

Steps:

  1. Uninstall WD Smartware with VCD disabled.

  2. Power cycle the device.

Result:
The LED indicators that show the drive usage don’t light up.

Frequency:
Always.

Workaround:
Reinstall Smartware.  Once reinstalled, the LED’s light back up.

Note:

The lights remain on after uninstall until you power cycle the device (literally unplugging and plugging back in the power).
