Format 5TB My Passport drive to Fat32 on a Mac

Anybody know how? WD support was useless.

I tried using Mac disk utllity. It formats the drive as Fat32, but shows 4.4TB used (unallocated space I think) and only 602GB available. I’m using the drive for media for my gaming console and/or TV; either will only recognize Fat32. Everything suggests using a third party software, but I haven’t found one for Mac yet that works. I’ve even tried using GParted on a Linux Live Boot CD with the same above results. I do not have access to a Windows machine.

Hi @WDhatesMac,

To understand the health of the drive, we would request you to install and WD Drive Utilities and run the test:

I have Mac OS Catalina (10.15.7). The WD Drive Utilities is not available for this OS.
