I’ve had the SMP for just under a week now & I have to say that unlike most of the people who post on here, I’m really impressed with it. I think it’s a vast improvement over the Live player. Netflix is a great addition. I thought I would have issues with streaming from my Hub but MKV’s play seamlessly. All in all, it was well worth upgrading
Thanks for sharing your impressions.
For $100 I suppose you can’t expect much. The SMP mostly delivers for that price point once you learn how to use it.
I still wish I got a HUB for the themes instead of an SMP, but I didn’t do any research on my purchase like I normally do.
I’m not going to give WD anymore of my $ though for future media players because they haven’t fixed PNG’s and there are some very annoying well known bugs that have been around for a long time.
Instead I’m going to either get a PCH A-300 or build a HTPC running XBMC. So if I could have done it over again I definitely wouldn’t have gone the WD route. If I had no other choice
I would have gone with a HUB.
I’ve seen XBMC back then on a friend’s original xbox. What’s it like today? Does it handle 1080p/MKV/PGS subs well?
This isn’t really the place to discuss XBMC
I’m new to XBMC myself, but if you only saw it running on original Xbox 360 It’s come A LONG WAY since then.

If you’re anything like me, the longer you use it, the more you’ll hate it.
