Files locked

Hello everyone, newbie here.
I was trying to access files from a prior save on an older computer. But the folder has a locked icon and says this file is locked. Is there a way to unlock those files? I tried downloading the folder onto my hard drive, but the same occurs–locked. What’s the point of backing up when you can’t get permission to view the files? Again, anyone who knows who to unlock those files – greatly appreciate the help.
