After erasing my WD My Book for Mac because I could not remember the password on the device, I was following the instructions to “restore the WD software and disk image on your drive.” but was unable to access the instructions linked:

Restoring the WD Software and Disk Image

In addition to deleting all of the data on your drive, erasing the drive also deletes the WD software and all of the support files, utilities, and user manual files.

If you ever need to remove and reinstall the WD software on your computer, or move the drive to another computer and install the software there, you will need to restore the WD software and disk image on your drive. To do this, after you have erased the drive, see Knowledge Base Answer ID 7 at http://support.wdc.com.

Is there a way to access these instructions? If not, will I be to use the device?

thanks for any assistance.

I am still confused. The link took me to a page for My Passport. Can this information be used for a My Book for Mac to “restore the WD software and disk image on your drive?" The original instruction says to use Knowledge Base Answer ID 7, is that something that still is available?

Thanks for the help. I apologize for the inconvenience, I have limited knowledge and understanding of what i am supposed to do.
