extHDD Thunderbolt (0G05025) questions?

I have an iMac that only has a Thunderbolt 1 interface and would like to know if the 0G05025 extHDD is Thunderbolt v1 or v2, either of which should be compatible?

In 10TB configuration I would like to know if that is a Hitachi (HGST) or WD HDD?

Depending on the HDD the warranty will be either five years (Hitachi/HGST), or just the three for WD brands respectively, but what are the conditions of the warranty i.e. in layman terms what is not covered? (I heave read the limited warranty on pg.4 of the instruction manual).

Thanks!

It is TB1 but will work perfectly fine on any TB2 port.

It is an HGST drive inside. The warranty on it is 3 years.

Only our newest devices with TB3 have 5 year warranties. The warranty is for use if you have a hardware failure and we will replace the device.

Many thanks for clearing this up.

I was led to believe by other officials from your company that the internal HDD could not be determined; it either a WD or HGDT. However, clarification on the matter regarding just what HGST is would be welcome i.e. not a rebranded WD HDD, but actually an HGST with the technology that affords it a lower replacement rate to it competitors intact after their takeover by Wester Digital?

Many thanks once again!

Newer devices such as a the TB3 models will have a mix or they will all be WD branded Ultrastar equivalent drives.

The older units such as the one you are asking about has a 99.9% chance at being HGST only as it is an older production unit.

Good to know.

However, to put potential customers minds at ease it would be wise to document (in technical documentation) just the kind of technology used in the HDDs e.g. Helium v SMR…
