External USB drive

New here so forgive my ignorance:

* When I plug an external usb drive it wants to sync the data, once synced I have everything in the usb_sync folder. 

Is there a way NOT to sync the files but play from the usb drive and is there a way to browse the files and copy only the stuff I need to the internal 1tb drive?

* When I play music from files folder I start first song and doesn’t play the next song until I start again.

  1.   Yes, go into SETUP screens and turn USB Sync OFF.   I think it’s under SETUP / SYSTEM SETTINGS
