External Drive Not Accessible

Brief recap:

External Drive

USB port broke off

WD suggested taking it out of case and hooking up to a computer to access and/or us

Took out of case and hooked up to main PC

Under Disk Mgmt in Windows, shows up as Healthy Primary Partition, but when right-click Open, it want to FORMAT

Do not want to FORMAT and lose everything on drive

Been trying to play with and figure out for a while now.

Does anyone have a clue or idea on where to go next?  I’ve read a lot of these threads and several web search pages…

I’m having the same issues my USB is on the fritz and I have the same issue going on!

I read around and I found out that there is a hardware encryption that is taken place on that little mini board that is attached to the hard drive in the enclourse. The only way to get your data is to get the part and replace it!!!

I looked all over ebay and all the parts are to old models nothing within the last few years… I’m in the same boat as you have you had any luck? If so what did you do? Did you go with a company?
