but for someone considering a purchase … spending $$$$ on a device on the basis of what someone claimed “Works Fine” with no Proof (ie. Mediainfo data, sample file for existing owners to test and confirm)
The “Official Supported Specs” are a good guidline for consumers to decide if the device will suit there needs and will not be money down the drain if it does not do, what they want it to do.
Sure, your Kodak Zi8 file might play fine now, but a future Firmware Update might put a end to that (kinda like the alpha channel png debacle) which… was not supported… but did work … and now, does not on new firmware.
I have Panasonic cam HDC-TM 900 ,and all videos done in 1080p 60 frames, in original .m2ts format play smooth and no judders.The only catch is you have to use the older firmware 3.00.28 or 3.01.19. All the versions after that will cause problems you stated.
