Going to buy a 2 bay storage. However, I am afraid that these ones are writing and reading only in a proprietary way. So, if such a device is not working properly, you cannot let any HDD from inside be read anywhere else. Is that true?
Not usually… I’m not 100% certain with the My Cloud Home products, but (unless you’re doing encryption also) all of WD’s other NASes use EXT4 file systems and software RAID (where applicable) which is readable via any Linux distro…
