I have a 4TB G Drive, when I try to move or copy video files from the drive, I receive The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “file name” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)
Any help is greatly appreciated!
-36 error is a very generic error that basically points to a bad read/write process. When that occurs the options are to unmount the drive safely, reconnect and try again. Try another interface cable if you have one. Also try in another port.
If it continues to occur then there could be a hardware issue inside the enclosure and the drive. If that is the case then it would need to be replaced. If it is under warranty than you can generate an RMA to get a replacement online here: RMA Creation
