Had a 4T Elements external USB drive failure the other day and the data recovery center is telling me that the USB to SATA interface is damaged and it will cost me over $700 to recover the data. If anyone else has had this failure does this sound correct. Sounds excessive for what appears to be a product failure.
Take a look at the link below and contact a WD recommend data recovery company.
Hamlet, thanks. The data recovery center I used is one that is on their list. Just looking to see if anyone else has had a similar problem/expense on a drive that is in warranty.
