I decided to upgrade the software on the past, downloaded SvrRecovery_1_7_6_21_6 distribution. I make a bootable distribution and proceeded to install. In the process set a password by typing it in Notepad and paste it into both fields for password entry. The process has started, the server restarts, and so I came to the entrance procedure, through Connect Manger. And in the place where you have to enter the password, I introduce it, but the system says that the password is incorrect. Interestingly, this message is not always, on some PCs can not be reached even this far. So the message “Unable to connect to the computer, as is the installation of other software, or the computer is waiting for a reboot.”
Waited 12 hours, but that has changed.
You may be unable to log on to the server because your keyboard was set to an English layout during Setup
After you choose a language and keyboard layout during Setup, your keyboard can remain in the English layout. Any passwords that are created during Setup might be based on the English keyboard layout. Because of this, you may be unable to log on to the server after Setup is finished. This can occur because the keyboard language format is set to English by default during Setup. If you change the language format, the keystrokes that you use to create the passwords may not map correctly to the keyboard layout that you are using.
To resolve this issue, after finishing Setup, perform the steps in the following procedure to reset the server password.
To reset the server password
1.In the logon screen, click the Language bar, select English, and then log on to the server by using the password that you created during Setup.
2.Open the Windows Home Server 2011 Dashboard.
3.On the Computers and Backup page, click Change the server password.
4.Type and confirm a new password for the server, and then click Change password.
Any application can set a pending reboot flag in the operating system through a registry key. Sometimes a reboot does not clear the flag. This is what setup is detecting.
To work around the pending reboot issue:
- Open Regedit
- Find the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager”
- Rename the "PendingFileRenameOperations
When I installed the new password, the layout was English, now I’m trying to enter the same password that was entered in the English layout, but the system does not accept.

Once you will enter the link \servername\connect copied file for later installation, but when you open it and you follow the instructions on, at the place where you must enter your password, the system says that the password is not correct. for RDP username Administrator and Password Admin if you did not set a password. If you did and cannot figure it out, you will have to do a recovery again
As I said before if the server or the client was set to a language other than English it still entered the password as English
This may be due to the fact that I did to restore the machine running WIN10?
No idea, never tried it from Win 10. Should not make a difference…?
