Drive isn't recognized and a burning smell

Hello everyone,

My WD Mybook is no longer recognized by my PC.  I also smell a slight burning smell.  I removed the hard drive from the enclosure and connected it to an IDE-to-USB adapter.  Same result.  I was also unfortunate enough to touch part of the circuit board on the underside of the drive.  I’m not sure if it was a shock or incredible heat…either way, it didn’t feel good!!  Just wanted to ask everyone…is there any hope of getting the files off of this thing??

Not sure dude

you might need to get a drive with the same firmware if you want to replace the circuit board

not an easy task and you can damage the drive further

best bet is to contact an specialist
