Drive A failure eventhough it is a new disk

I have a My Book Live Duo, which I purchased in Dec 2015. I just set it up and immediately I received a Dive A failed. I purchased a new drive, same model but, it still shows as Dive A failed I cannot change the Raid 1. I tested the drive and it is working but, I cannot get it to clear out the error message. In utilities it says the drive failed and to open a support ticket, which I did. Since the drives were made in 2012 I am told that they are out of warranty. Sure I got a discount on a new drive or system but, there is something else wrong. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
