I have just upgraded my MyCloudUltra EX2 to a larger drive size. That all went smoothly, have doubled my Raid1 volume. However, in the process of researching how to do it, I cam across many posts that stated Raid! is not actually a backup as it is a failsafe, that running as JBOD and backing up would be better if any data were to become corrupted. I would like to downgrade my system to JBOD but only come to the option where it says all data will be lost. Why is this necessary? Both drives have the same data so why should one have to back up to a separate drive and then have both MyCloud drives be reformatted, only to then move copy all of the data back to one of them? Is it not possible to just unlink the 2 Raid1 drives?
