I already know that the MyCloud EX2 supports turning ON/OFF Oplocks for every individual Share, but I am wondering if it supports “Kernel Oplocks” or not? If it does support kernel oplocks, are they turned on or off by default, and where?
I am interested in this because I am deciding whether to turn Oplocks on or off for my Share that is being accessed locally (NFS + SMB) and remotely (WebDAV, FTP). I read that it is not a good idea to have Oplocks ON if you are accessing the Share’s files with a mixture of Windows (SMB) and Unix (NFS, AFP) clients. However, it specifically says that if your NAS supports “Kernel Oplocks” than it is okay to leave Oplocks ON with this setup.
