I just received 2 WD TV Live SMP and One WD TV Live HUB. Anyway, my plans are to use external hard drives attached to the USB ports to watch movies. I’ll have a hard drive on each unit (more for redundancy if anything). My movie collection is not that large really, it will all fit on a 3TB drive. Anway, if I grow my collection and need more storage, then I’ll probably just by a server and stream the videos on my network.
My question is, since I plan on having external drives on each unit, do I really need the “hub”? Does the unit with the built in hard drive offer more than the SMP do?
