Do I need to keep all backups?

Hi,
I have a my passport for mac and it says that over half of my space on it is used. There are about 12 backup folders and another folder that says “latest”. Do I need to keep all of those? There is one that I assume is the latest one, but it’s not a folder. It says “2020-06-05-160132.inProgress”.
I have no clue how to use this and am trying to figure out how to get my mac to stop saying the startup disk is full even though I have this external hard drive as well as iCloud storage that I pay monthly for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

The error indicates that you are running out of space on your primary(internal) disk drive on Mac. Although you have external storage but as long as more that 90% of your internal disk’s capacity is consumed you will encounter the same error. Ideally, 10% of the disk should be free to leave your Mac’s OS enough space to operate.

You may move a few files to an external drive and empty trash to free up some space.
