Disk dying? Error logs and information inside, please advice :(

First off i just want to say that i have run the WD Diagnostics tool as well as chkdsk /offlinescanandfix (win8.1) without detecting any errors.

My problem exists however, if i put the disk under some strain (ie. download a game from steam or similar) the steam client will crash. The steam client was installed to the same drive, but i have since installed it to C: and the problem dissapears.

It seems like the disk chokes under load, which would reflect in the errors posted below.

Along comes the event viewer:

I did some research to find out what this means, and while i did find some info i was not able to decode the error completely.

Please note that these errors all point to the same disk, the Western Digital Black 1TB.

 Apparently the interesting stuff is at line 0028: 00 00 04 2A.

I figured out that this is a timeout error but i was not able to figure out which command is timing out.

I guess my plea to this community is to ask if anyone knows what this means, and if it is something i can remedy, or if i should go get a new drive?

Thanks in advance, if any more information is required i will try to provide. Thanks for reading.

Hello and welcome to the community,

Can you post the test results for a extended test using WD DLG?

Running another test now as i didnt screenshot the last one and im not able to find a log of it.

Will post it tomorrow when i get the chance, but as i said it will pass without any errors unless something has changed the last couple of days…

Finished running the test during the night…

Not much info there… Im wondering if i should try to run some benchmark tests, and compare that with errors in event viewer…

This is the result from CrystalDiskMark:

Kinda looks to be broken ? I dont even know if this drive is under warranty, cant remember when i bought it… :\

EDIT: Managed to find the receipt and its bought in 2011.

One final benchmark.

I deleted the partition in order to run the write tests from HD Tune Pro. Write speed is def. borked… :frowning:

Oh well. Guess noone has any input on this.

Ordered a new drive, didnt pick WD this time. I hope i have more luck with the new one…

The “2A” in “0028: 00 00 04 2A” is a SCSIOP_WRITE command.
