Disk compare: WD1005FBYZ vs. WD1003FBYZ

In the old (2013) server there is a broken disk. It’s the WD1003FBYZ, branded as HP MB1000GCEEK
Our supplier says the old 1003 is not any more available, but there’s the new 1005

Question: can I use the new instead of the old without compromising the raid?

Small scale RAID boxes are passe, now software defined redundancy is more mainstream

get a USB disk and backup the old box and install new hard disks as the surviving disks are likely close to EOL too

Thank you for the tip, but the question was slightly different: can I replace model 1003 with model 1005? the HP server has a Smart Array P420i

probably work as long as the capacity is the same
