Disable Local Master Browser on the My Cloud NAS

Hi, I wanted to disable the local master browser on my WD My Cloud NAS (firmware version v04.05.00-342) because it interferes with my router’s local master browser service. I suppose the only method is to do so through SSH, and in fact, I did it previously but now I had to reset the device because of the firmware update and I can’t remember where I first found the guide on how to do it. Someone knows how to do it?

You can try editing (using SSH nano or WinSCP or other SSH text file editor) the “/etc/samba/smb-global.conf” file to deal with the master browser setting on the My Cloud. Look for the following entries under the [global] section. These are, I believe, the default values on my first gen v4.x firmware My Cloud:

local master = yes
domain master = no
preferred master = auto
