Deezer issues continue

Hi…

I made the post below in Jan 2011 - i keep checking each new patch level and can confirm that there have been no changes in the status. Deezer functionality is so restricted that the WD box still sits unused waiting for the next patch.

I thought perhaps that it was due to Deezer API issues as was suggested… or that perhaps the navigation was too complex for a simple interface.

However, I just bought a Logitec Squeezebox radio and the Deezer functionality on this is perfect.

Everything points to a poor WD job.

I made some further tests and post the following for anybody looking to use this device for Deezer. Unfortunately the current functionality is very restricted - if i had known this before-hand I would not have bought the device.

Device patch level 1.04.17_v

Working:

  • sign on using Deezer account

  • access to Playlists

  • access to Radios

  • access to Charts

  • basic search

NOT working

  • albums in your Deezer favourites are not shown

  • any folders in your favourites are not shown

  • most crucially, the ability to identify and play an album is missing

example: You can search for the band Arcade Fire. When you choose the band you are shown a list of songs by the band - sorted in Deezer popularity.

Unlike the normal Deezer application, you cannot select the artist or album - you can only play the tracks in popularity order.

  • search by album is not working. The results are the same as using the “All” option.

example: Search for the album Funeral. You are shown a list of tracks with Funeral in the title - again sorted by Deezer popularity - regardless of the

album title. e.g. the second track identified is Electric Funeral by Black Sabbath from the album Paranoid…

Hoping these issues are fixed in the next patch…

Deezer is a free music streaming service based in Paris, France. As far as I know the unit doesn’t support that service. So if you have it working for the media player it is going to be difficult for us on the forum to help with its functionality.

Take a look at the specs of some of the other media players to see if there can be a substitute to your needs.

@Lawrence - Do you even own a WDTV Live. Deezer has been in the Internet services for several firmware releases.

Well  I actually own a WD TV LIVE HUB. I was going by the user manualy and documatation stating What Deezer is.

Since you refered the unit as “The WD BOX” it’s kinda of hard to know what you were refering to or talking about…

Reread my post. I referred to it as WDTV Live not “The WD BOX”.

Deezer has been in the firmware of all Live units (original, Plus and Hub) for nearly 6 months.

Now as to what the OP is posting about I have little experience. Tried Deezer a bit originally when it first became available. The music selection did not suite my preferences, so I have not used it much.
