CR2032s

Has anyone pulled the CR2032s out from the main board, if so can the system boot up again after they have been replaced?

What do they back up, is it the settings, is the HDMI setting retained by these, I have a problem where I cant get the box to display through HDMI, I think it has screwed up the handshake settings but reset will not cure it.

AFAIK, it’s only maintaining the clock.  But without the schematics, it’s hard to know.  :)

Older boxes (like the WD TV Live and older) didn’t have a battery at all.

Again, AFAIK, all the settings are maintained in a flash memory location.

Thanks Tony, just pulled the single CR2032 and powered up, no changes as far as I could see.

Would it be possible for Netflix to flag up an HDCP conflict and lock out HDMI connection, if so could it be disabled easily?

I have no idea about that…
