Connector broke off, can it be fixed?

The metal anchor on that is soldered onto the chipboard that receives the USB cable on the External HDD end of the cable broke off. I lost that piece, is there anywhere I could find a new one to solder on? The rest of the drive is intact and it is really annoying that something so small is making this drive useless.

It might work but you need skill to solder something delicate like that. You don’t have much to loose if you need the data on the drive. If this is a drive that came with Smartware that board provides hardware encryption and is needed to decrypt data. Opening the case does void the warranty.

you might also take it to a computer repair shop and see what they have.  they should be better equipped to solder another usb port onto the drive.  or they may be able to order another port to solder on themselves.
