Connecting to MyCloud without internet

Hi,

I have the newer MyCloud device and want to connect to it directly via ethernet to thunderbolt. Is this possible? My internet at home is really slow at the moment, so I’ve taken it to uni, but I do not have access to their router. I read it is possible to transfer directly, but my mac isn’t finding the device when I plug it in. Any recommendations?

The My Cloud Home cannot be connected directly to the computer and requires an active internet connection to function properly.

The My Cloud (older product) can be connected to the computer
