Connect by non-USB?

Hi all.

The USB connector on my drive stopped working, its a myPassport SE USB 2.0 - The version with built-in USB controller (see picture below, taken from another user here in the forum)

I see there are some other pins there. Can I use these to connect the disk to a computer? Or is this just for jumper settings?

I really do need to save the data on this drive and I am not keen about paying 600 dollars to a company to get the job done.

I have exactly the same problem. The drive is a Sata drive according to the label so if only someone could give us the pin out details for the 12 pin header we ought to be able to access the data.

The 12-pin header won’t give you SATA access. You would need to bypass the Initio INIC-1607E USB-SATA bridge chip. This IC handles the hardware encryption.
