Compatibility Confusion Help

I have an old Dell Inspiron 6000.  It has a 40Gb Toshiba MK4025GAS which specs say is ATA.  But Dell compatibility says IDE.  Will a Scorpio Blue SATA 3.0 320Gb work in this laptop.  I know I need to partition but electrically is it compatible?

Hi no ATA means ide it takes a wide cable or in the case of a laptop the same wide plug in spot. No sata drive will work you need a ide drive.

Do a search for PATA SSD. I am amazed to see that there are such things, and not terribly expensive, either. You can still find PATA 2.5" HDDs, too.
