Cloning my drive to my Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe

I’m getting ready to use Macrium Reflect to clone the HHD on my Dell Inspiron 5570 to my new Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe.

The stock 2 TB HDD is where the OS and my files reside. I’m using 113GB between the Windows 10 Pro and my files. I’m installing this SSD to increase the speed and response of this laptop. Sometimes it can take 5 or more minutes to boot up.

CLONE QUESTION (1st time doing this.) Do I need to partition the HDD to match the SSD size? (IE: 500gb and 500gb, minus overhead)

Can I use Macrium to partition my HDD first?

Thank you for your time and help, it’s appreciated

install windows fresh as cloning will not work the way you want

Really? just found this video for the 5-Series Dells.

He used Macrium to clone his HDD to his SDD.

Thanks for responding, though.

I have tried cloning here and there but a fresh install of windows has some advantages
