Change admin password by ssh

Hi, I’m in the situation that I forgot the admin password but still have ssh access. I tried to change the admin password by the normal debian procedure with “passwd admin”, but this doesn’t seem to affect the login credentials of the html interface.
Is there some additional step to take that the new password is set for the html interface too?
Rebooting the device didn’t help…
I found some similar threads, but all external links are broken, so many thanks in advance for refreshing this topic!!

Many thanks and I wish you a good day!!
Take care,
Marc

Look up “4 sec reset” and “40 sec reset”

Thanks a lot for your reply. I have read about the reset procedure but I would like to go for a less brutal procedure. I mean, having access to the ssh there should be a way to reset user passwords, or not?
Many thanks again and I wish you a good day.
Marc
