I am very disappointed with my Caviar Black 1 TB, as through no fault of mine, the drive broke down and is inaccessable, which requires that I pay around 300 USD to a data recovery company to recover what they can.
Of course it will mean that the drive has to be opened, which invalidates the warranty, which has 2 more years to run and this is very unfair.
I feel that WD should provide a data recovery service in house, that does not invalidate the warranty even if there is a charge for the recovery service, it would at least mean that the drive is replaceable under warranty.
Has anyone else suffered such an experience?
I hope that someone from WD can help me with this matter.
