Capacity used by unknown "other"/can't connect via mycloud.local/device not showing up

Couple of problems:
3T My Cloud. I do not have WD sync installed. I am only backing up with Time Machine. Total used with my data: < 300 GB. WDMyCloud shows up in Finder and I can connect and access that way. Mobile app works. Both state only 600 GB left. When I try to log in or access through WD Access, it states no device found. When I try wdmycloud.local safari/chrome cannot connect to server. If there is a network problem, why can I connect with mobile app and through Finder? How do I find out where all the TB of “other” is and get rid of it? Why isn’t my device showing up via WD Access? Why can’t I connect to server with web but I can through finder? Sorry, a beginner at networking.
