Can't open MyPassport

I have no issues with the harddrive and just plugged it in and get this message:

“My Passport” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.

I am stressed because I have read a few forums that talk about not emptying the trash can but mine already was? Ihadn’t plugged it in for a week or so.
