Can't open Backed up files on Windows 10

I have a WD EasyStore external hard drive. All the backed up files have file extensions that can’t be opened. My music files are backed up as mp3_LAST File. My photo files have Jpg_LAST File as the extension. My PDF files have Pdf_LAST File as the extension. Why is the backup storing files with these extensions? How can I view files with all these odd file extensions?
