Cant afford to lose my data on my 3TB drive

Hi, I have a My Book Essential 3TB External Hard drive that has suffered from a power failure. I have removed the drive from the chassis and I have been able to confirm that the HDD is working correctly. However, when I plug the drive directly into my PC via the SATA cable and power in the PC, it does now see the data already stored on the drive. It shows up in Disk Management with the full drive unallocated. I cannot lose the data that is already on this drive. How can I get Win 8.1 to recognise that there is already data on the storage device. Thanks, Terry

Hello,

Welcome to the WD Community.

As a recommendation, try to get a data recovery software to see if you can get your data out of the drive.
