Cannot see "shares" in Windows 8

I can see them from a Windows 7 machine, but not Windows 8.  I upgraded the firmware just now and still cannot see them: v03.01.03-127.

What can I do?  Is it broken?

I added a password to my Win8 account, but it didn’t help.  I am using Win8 pro.

I’m not sure what fixed it, but I accessed the shares from another win8 machine and I disabled my local password.  That seems to have fixed it.
