I used the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics to erase my My Book. The erase failed at 99% completion reporting that there were too many bad sectors. The status now reports at Not Available.
I attempted to run chkdsk but it does not see the drive, nor does a DOS format.
Disk Management sees the drive but indicates that it need to be initialized. I attempted to initialize but an error comes back that the Device is Not Ready.
I’m stuck, any suggestions? I need to reinstall the WD backup software but cannot until the drive is formatted.
