I’m considering replacing the WD with another product,
and I would like to move the two 8TB drives over to it, before I feed the
old solution to the local plankton, but the thing is, I have them configured as spanning the space across the two drives, and I wondered if that writing format would be somewhat standard and recognizable by another product,
or I will have to reinitialize, and lose the existing data.
I have some 9TB of it used so far, and nowhere to back it up, and I don’t want to buy another pair of fast and large sata drives , only to use them for a temporary backup space.
My use is mainly very small files (Canon CR2 cam raw’s, under 40MB,)
and I have lots of them. So many that the WD can’t stop reindexing them or something(which I don’t even need it to do…) forever, each time I add another handful at the time. Ideally, I would like to find another product, plain NAS, no fancy services I don’t have use for, anyway, which would be able to take the existing drives and see the existing data.
Would that be even possible?
