Can I start a local backup then change it to a remote backup?

I have purchased 2 My Cloud Mirrors, one for the office and the other for home to backup remotely. I currently have existing data on an old My Book World (about 1tb) which I will copy onto the office My Cloud Mirror, and in turn this will be backed up on the home My Cloud Mirror.

To avoid initially backing up 1tb of data over the internet, can I begin the back-up locally before physically relocating the second My Cloud Mirror to home and then continue the back-up remotely?

This is likely to create a data conflict or repeated files. Local backups and remote backups are handled independently.

Personally, for such a large amount of data I’d recommend completing the backup locally.
