Can I replace WD Firmware with another?

Hello, I got tired of this WD My Cloud PR4100, I even try to sell it by less about 160$ and no one is even interested to ask, so is there someway I can replace the firmware and use that one of Synology or other open source ?

I have the same question. After this crappy OS 5 upgrade, I’m looking at putting Open Media Vault or similar on my PR4100. So far I haven’t found an answer. Please update if you find an answer.
