Hi FYI, bit of a PSA here regarding restores to different sized HD’s failing on bare metal restore.
I ran into an error “formatpartitionex failed”. This was found in the log file generated by “windowsserverpcrestore.exe”. This link explains why the problem happens:
The instructions in the post aren’t super clear about what to do to restore all of the partitions once you create a proper offset. It does suggest using “manually assign partitions” in the wizard but nothing detailed. So I am restoring combinations that will at least allow me proceed…
We’ll see if it boots ;).
